Successful LIFE Programme Presentation Held in Gostivar

The Municipality of Gostivar hosted a successful presentation of the LIFE Programme, bringing together representatives of local authorities, public institutions, civil society organisations, academia and other stakeholders to learn more about the European Union’s funding opportunities for environment, climate action and clean energy transition.

The event was organised with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to North Macedonia and formed part of the national efforts to strengthen awareness and capacities for participation in the LIFE Programme.

The event was officially opened by:

  • Mr. Valbon Limani, Mayor of the Municipality of Gostivar;
  • H.E. Michalis Rokas, Ambassador of the European Union to North Macedonia;
  • Mr. Muamet Hoxha, Minister of Environment and Physical Planning.

During the panel session, participants received comprehensive information on the achievements of the LIFE Programme and the ongoing national capacity-building activities implemented through the eHUB4LIFE project. The speakers also presented the LIFE Calls for Proposals 2026, outlining the available funding opportunities, thematic priorities, eligible applicants and application deadlines. In addition, participants received practical guidance on developing competitive LIFE project proposals and gained insights into the LIFE project evaluation process.

The presentations were delivered by:

  • Prof. Hristina Spasevska, President of the Knowledge and Skills Management Centre and eHUB4LIFE Project Manager;
  • MSc Vlatko Trpeski, LIFE National Contact Point and eHUB4LIFE Project Coordinator at the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning;
  • Mr. Igor Panchevski, eHUB4LIFE Project Team Member at the Knowledge and Skills Management Centre and LIFE Project Evaluator.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange experiences, discuss national environmental and climate priorities, and explore future project ideas that could be supported through the LIFE Programme. During the discussion, participants highlighted the need for additional thematic workshops involving multiple municipalities, focused on specific environmental and climate topics. They suggested that such events would enable municipalities, public institutions and other stakeholders to combine complementary project ideas, build partnerships and jointly develop stronger and more competitive LIFE project proposals.

The eHUB4LIFE project remains committed to strengthening national capacities, supporting potential applicants and fostering high-quality LIFE project development across the country through knowledge sharing, networking and practical assistance.
