From National Priorities to LIFE Projects: Developing the Roadmap for National LIFE Actions
On 22 September 2026, the eHUB4LIFE project organised the workshop “Roadmap for National LIFE Actions: From Priorities to Projects, from Projects to Impact” at the Chamber of Certified Architects and Certified Engineers in Skopje. The workshop was designed to support the development and validation of the Roadmap for National LIFE Actions and to provide a structured platform for translating national environmental and climate priorities into coordinated actions and future LIFE project opportunities.
The event brought together representatives of institutions and stakeholders active in the fields of environment, climate action and sustainable development. Attention was given to strengthening cooperation among relevant actors and to aligning future national actions with the LIFE Programme, the European Green Deal, the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans and the EU environmental and climate acquis. International participation also enabled an exchange of experience and good practices relevant to the country’s future participation in the LIFE Programme and its broader EU integration process.
The opening session was moderated by Vlatko Trpeski, Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning (MoEPP). Welcome and opening addresses were delivered by Dejan Metikosh, President of the Chamber of Certified Architects and Certified Engineers, Igor Nikoloski, Director of the Administration for Environment, and Maja Bogdanovska-Zendelska, Environment & Infrastructure, Delegation of the European Union.
The programme continued with a presentation by Hristina Spasevska, K&S Skopje, dedicated to the eHUB4LIFE project and its role in strengthening national capacities for participation in the LIFE Programme. Risto Ivanov, K&S Skopje, presented the strategic framework and vision of the Roadmap for National LIFE Actions, while Nikolina Petković Gregorić, LIFE NCP Croatia, shared Croatian experience related to defining national priorities and developing successful LIFE projects.
A central part of the workshop was the working session “From Roadmap to Action”, moderated by Risto Ivanov. The discussion was led by Vlatko Trpeski, Nikolina Petković Gregorić, Hristina Spasevska and Lihnida Stojanovska Georgievska. The session focused on how national environmental and climate priorities can be transformed into concrete actions, project ideas and high-quality LIFE project opportunities, while also strengthening institutional coordination and cooperation among stakeholders.
The final part of the event focused on confirming the Roadmap priorities, proposed actions and the next steps for further development.
The workshop represented an important step towards establishing a more structured national approach to participation in the LIFE Programme. By connecting strategic priorities with practical actions and potential project initiatives, the Roadmap is expected to support stronger coordination, better project development and more effective use of the opportunities offered by LIFE.
